I'm not sure how much can be done from our side, but I noticed that it takes the ZoomSnippet with ~900 widgets roughly 5 seconds before the layout is applied. Before that, it's busy doing GTK stuff.

Nevermind, this is a duplicate of #376. The snippet is "stuck" because the animation isn't drawn...
