Teachers can see users of anonymous questions in log data. #41
Comments
Sorry for the late reply, but was out for medical appointments yesterday. Yes, that is the expected behavior, and it has been that way since before I started maintaining this plugin. The reason is because too many students think they can get away with very bad language and threats when making an anonymous entry. I have even seen students who created "actionable" posts that required "counseling" and other consequences from the teacher and/or school principal. |
Is it possible to add an additional option "Make log data anonymous"? The option could be displayed directly below the anonymouspost option. |
I would be extremely reluctant to give a user the ability to make their entries anonymous in the log. To me, that is just an open invitation to make "bad" entries because they know they cannot be tracked down and dealt with. If you are actually more interested in the teacher not being able to see who made an entry, then you might try changing the permissions so the teacher cannot look at the Hot Question log entries. |
Sorry it was a misunderstanding. Not the user should get the option, the teacher should be able to set it in the settings of the activity. Then the teacher can decide if the entries in the log data are also anonymous. |
Sorry, unless you can give me a valid legal reason, I am still extremely reluctant to create a setting to make an entry anonymous even in the logs. |
Should the teacher be able to assign anonymous questions to a user?
As an example two questions are created, one question is normal and the second question is anonymous.
In the normal log data for the activity, a teacher can see entries for both questions including the user.
