Hello,

I have a few quick questions about LOD.

With the EXT:beaconizer it is possible to set links to other biographical pages. Since this is no longer being developed, I wonder if LOD should replace Beaconizer in the future?

If so, do you have an example of how I would have to create a record for a personal database, e.g. VIAF or GND?

Best regards

Hi @Epoche-Napoleon,

thanks for your question and your interest in EXT:lod! Before I give some explanations about this extension just a quick note that even though EXT:beaconizer has not been in active development for a while due to lack of time it is not dead or abandoned. ;-) I always hope to get it compatible to TYPO3 10/11 at some point in the next few months. Any kind of help would be highly appreciated, it doesn't need to be code contributions, even just testing and documenting what might break in recent TYPO3 versions would be a great help.

Regarding EXT:lod - it is not meant as a replacement to EXT:beaconizer. It provides a semantic layer for TYPO3 that makes it possible to offer any record from your database as Linked Open Data. It features an out of the box restful API with content negotiation, a broad range of serialization formats (RDFa, RDF/XML, Turtle, NT, JSON-LD), a configurable permalink resolver for records, well known RDF vocabularies (like schema.org, SKOS, FOAF etc.) for describing your data (and also embedded as JSON-LD in your web pages) and a plugin for creating and publishing your own LOD vocabularies.

You can find some basic documentation in the development branch:

Featurewise it is ready to be published to TER but still needs some documentation. Best regards!
