Remote unlock

It's not to be used normally, but in exceptional circumstances a remote unlock can be helpful.

Make a method of enabling a remote unlock, which sets a flag which means in the next N minutes after the flag is set, entering code 00000000 unlocks the door. This proves someone is at the door and won't leave the door hanging open by accident.

Look at a force unlock method which just releases the door. This should be accessible as an API if on the WIFI. This should be password protected.
