One of the top agenda items for BrowserCMS 4.0 is having true in context editing. Building our own JS for this is well out of scope, but there are a number of 3rd party projects that can do it.

- Hallo - http://hallojs.org/ This is very raw, doesn't work well in IE and doesn't support linking at current.
- Mercury - Rails based. Does not support IE at all.
- wysihtml5 - More HTML5 text editor replacement than inline editor.
There are some interesting discussions about in context editing going on in the drupal community right now with the 'Spark' project that are worth following:
