Demand-Driven Civic Tech

There's a cool experiment happening at in the federal government called Demand-Driven Open Open Data. The idea is to build an intake process for data users to request open datasets from the Health & Human Services Agency. @joelrip + I are building on that effort at the state-level for open data from the CA Health & Human Services Agency.

Anyways, I was thinking we could experiment with Demand-Driven Civic Tech to give the people of Sacramento and gov/nonprofit partners an opportunity to request civic apps from us. We all know it's not as simple as putting in a request or pitching an idea. But... if we use Telescope, we would have a platform for these discussions to take place outside of GitHub - which is important for inclusion (even though GitHub Issues is super-simple, we shouldn't expect non-coders to overcome the learning curve).
