One that resurfaced during the big blonk testnets was how big of an impact turning off logging has. The performance increase when not logging depends on a lot of factors, and more testing is required to determine exactly how much performance can be hit without logs and the existing message passing, however anecdotally from testground and and the bigblonk testnets it was at least 10-20% in total throughput.
