Asobi's library system is used to store bookmarks, history, and perform actions that help enhance and patch up the browsing experience. These functions are outlined in the below sections.

Bookmarks

Asobi is a single-window browser which means that is no such thing as tabs. This allows the user to properly launch each PWA like they would an ordinary application, removes the clunkiness of tab management, and creates an immersive experience for you, the user.

So, how are you supposed to navigate between websites with nothing but a default URL in settings? Enter bookmarks.

Bookmarks are used as shortlinks to various pages in Asobi. They function as mini-applications within Asobi.

Adding a bookmark

Adding a bookmark can be accomplished in 2 ways:

  1. Through holding the library button in the navigation bar and selecting Add bookmark in the context menu

  2. By entering library and selecting Add in the bookmarks section

  • The edit bookmark view automatically fills the text-boxes with your current URL and the title of the page. These can be changed as needed or filled in with new information.

Managing bookmarks

There are 3 different options on each bookmark in the menu:

  1. Edit: Allows you to edit the existing bookmark's information

  2. Delete: Deletes the bookmark from library

  3. Set as default: Changes Asobi's default URL to the bookmark's URL

On iOS 15 and above, users have the ability to swipe left and right on a bookmark in the bookmarks menu.

iOS 14 requires uses to hold on the bookmark to access these options (via a context menu).

To access editing mode, just click the Edit button in the bottom-right corner of the bookmarks view which will allow you to move around and delete bookmarks.

History

Browser history is pretty self-explanatory and Asobi stores browser history just like any other browser would. Entries are stored under a date and these can be bulk deleted in many ways.

Managing history

The only way to manage history is in terms of removal. Asobi the capability of removing single history entries or entries from a range in time.

Single entry removal

There are two ways to remove entries one at a time:

  1. Swipe on an entry to delete it

  2. Use the Edit button in the bottom right and delete entries

Bulk history cleanup

On iOS 15, users can access this menu by clicking the Actions button in the bottom left corner of the history view.

iOS 15 and 14 users can access the Clear browsing data button in the library actions view to bulk delete history.

There are four ranges to cleanup history in bulk:

  1. Past day: Cleans history from the past day

  2. Past week: Cleans history from the past 7 days

  3. Past 4 weeks: Cleans history from the past 4 weeks (equivalent to a month)
