The recent changes enhance the application's configuration management by incorporating the python-dotenv package. This allows the application to load environment variables from a .env file, improving security and flexibility. Sensitive information no longer needs to be hardcoded, facilitating easier management across different environments. The changes include the necessary import and function call in the configuration file, as well as the addition of the new dependency in the requirements.txt.
