Abstract. Переход на двухуровневую систему обучения и стандарты нового поколения привёл к ограничению числа часов, отводимых на изучение курса общей физики. Курс физики твёрдого тела не является исключением. Сохранить объём изучаемого материала возможно путём перенесения части его на самостоятельное изучение при подготовке к выполнению лабораторных работ. В этом случае качество освоения материала в значительной мере зависит от ответственности и заинтересованности студентов. Постоянно получая информацию о новейших достижениях науки, студенты быстрее проявят интерес к учёбе, если будут слышать об этих же достижениях в лаборатории. Всё это убеждает в необходимости совместить подготовку по классической теории физики твёрдого тела и изучение уникальных свойств полупроводников и диэлектриков, широко используемых в современной электронике.
