The ESM support in Node has been maturing and more and more libraries are moving to ESM. Before I feel comfortable with a 1.0.0 release Ataraxia should also be switched over to be an ESM module.

As part of this support for Node 12 will be dropped and other simplifications in how the project is built should be investigated.
