While things are still pretty sharp on Analogue Pocket, on MiSTer with most displays, things will get a bit pixellated with the 720x720 resolution, especially on higher output resolutions than 720p.
1440x1440 pixel res would look great on MiSTer and it would be shockingly sharp on Analogue Pocket, although for much of the MAME-compatible background graphics available it might require some mild upscaling to hit 1440 pixels in width. Alternatively, if there was an emulator-style smoothing filter for upscaled outputs, that might help fill the gap. I know that those kinds of display modes are not super popular for FPGA usage, but Game & Watch is a bit of a special case where I think smooth and anti-aliased looks have a real benefit.
Very much a "nice-to-have" and I understand if there's serious roadblocks to implementing, but I figured it might be worth considering.
