Notes from lab meeting 9 Jan 202

[name=Kirstie] What topics shall we cover in future meetings?
- [name=Kirstie] Ang & Yini - can we do one themed around the Chinese New Year? On 23 or 30 Jan?
  - [name=Ang]: Sounds interesting, I think 30th Jan will be a great time for us because we will have experienced a very special Chinese New Year in London. We can validly introduce Spring Festival to you (it is very different from Christmas and reflects an unique national culture) and prepare some food we eat during the Festival.
  - [name=Yini] I am honored to have the opportunity to share the traditions and happiness of Chinese Spring Festival with all of you.Thank Kirstie for giving me this opportunity.:kissing_heart:
  - [name=Kirstie] Fantastic! Lets put that in the calendar!!
- [name=Malvika] Citizen Science: what it means from research point of view - how to lead a research project on data driven citizen science?
- [name=Yo & Louise] Self care (carry over from the last year)!
- Ethics in data science!
- [name=Louise] Meeting facilitation - after a discussion with Kristie at end of last year.
  - [name=Anastasia] More ways of running meetings than we currently manage in most groups at Turing

  - How do we select things to read?
  - How do people read differently? (e.g. autistic people)
    - importance of neurodivergence in a team for gaining deeper understanding of a peper discussed
  - Extend to writing 😄

Lab meeting ideas:
- How to cross stitch
- Elizabeth: how to do nothing (when her class no longer clashes)
- How do we include policy / communication experts in open source projects
  - Maybe 2 different sessions - one focused on Autistica and one from Anastasia
- Anastasia - what the policy team does (or other topics)
- Georgia - invite policy maker from government
- Self care
- Malvika: community building
- Time management & project management
- NLP - good for autistica, maybe Alex
