But wait, isn't there already an Issues tab?

Yep! By limiting "Issues" to:

1. Bug Reports
2. Feature Requests

it helps make it easier to plan and organize development tasks.

And the hope is that this Discussions area will work for everything else: general questions, discussions, expanding the core of an idea into a fully-realized feature request, etc.

Discussions allow users to start conversations and ask questions without opening issues. Discussions can be bumped by the community and have replies marked as the correct answer.
