The index template name bitscout-* does not match index name pattern used by fluentd (see 50-kubernetes.conf.future). I think the fix should be as easy as removing the dash from index template or adding the dash to the fluentd configuration.
Is there any chance the index name is configured on additional places in fluentd configs in addition to what I listed above? If yes we need to check these as well (I am not fluentd expert).

It is intended that the elasticsearch-templates repo is the official source, but there hasn't been any update, and there is not automatic mechanism to sync the docker-elasticsearch repo with changes to the elasticsearch-templates repo, or use the elasticsearch-templates repo when building images in the docker-elasticsearch repo, or etc. For now, it is a manual process - you commit to elasticsearch-templates repo, then commit to docker-elasticsearch repo.
With bitscout, it is only fluentd that constructs index names that are used in elasticsearch (the docker-rsyslog repo was only used temporarily and is now deprecated).
