Does HC automatically change the resolution of your screen?

Yesterday I had a weird experience while I was playing with an external screen on my deck, going with settings of

1. external screen only
2. 1980x1080

and whenever I applied the new resolution and confirmed, shortly after that it got reset to the 800p the deck normally has (tho still external screen only)

now when I closed Handheld companion, this reversion did not happen anymore.

I did everything via the normal settings in windows:

Operating System: Windows 10 LTSC 2021
Device: Steam Deck LCD (Controller Type B)
Dock: Jsaux HB0603

Edit: I have more details.

1. it also happens with the official Valve Dock
2. apparently when I have just the desktop open it doesnt seem to occur, but if I do it either while having a game (in this case wuthering waves) and HC open or I open the game with HC running it will change the resolution.
