Test Navigator - test report changes

In previous versions when executing tests we used get a better test summary in Test Navigator, where the scenario was shown at a higher level, with a drop down for each step. which translated better in the html reports. see below:

When we upgraded to the later versions (due to the need of bug fixes) we discovered that tests are now split and the reports are now not formatted well and harder to read:

why was it changed? it was better no?
