I want to modify it to PlayResX: 1920 and PlayResY: 1080 because 384x288 cannot accurately set the subtitles.

How difficult it is to imitate it, and I don't know how to implement it with subtitle files,

Allow me to explain my images.

As shown in the first image, Genshin Impact's UID rendering is composed of a layer of white text and four layers of shadows facing the upper-left, lower-left, upper-right, and lower-right directions, superimposed together.

My idea is that rendering dialogue text could be done in a similar way. In my attempt to mimic this, the results are shown in the second and third images. I can say that the effect is very close.

So, my question is, I don't know how to use a single set of subtitles to achieve a semi-transparent shadow overlay with positional offsets in four directions. It's not uniformly outlined, so the PSD file you provided might not look very similar at high resolutions.

@JPS46225

I didn't realise that it wasn't a simple outline tbh. Looks like achieving this is going to be harder than I thought.

@JPS46225

Apparently you can do semi transparency with \alpha, but I'm not sure about the positional offsets that you mentioned.

@JPS46225

I just got this from ChatGPT. I really hope this helps...

To create semi-transparent shadows with positional offsets in SubStation Alpha subtitles, you can use the following format:

Dialogue: 0,0:00:05.00,0:00:10.00,Default,,0,0,0,,{\blurX1}{\blurY1}{\pos(5,5)}This is the main text
Dialogue: 0,0:00:05.00,0:00:10.00,Default,,0,0,0,,{\alpha&H80&}{\blurX1}{\blurY1}{\pos(8,8)}Shadow text

In this example, replace "This is the main text" with your main subtitle text and "Shadow text" with the text for the shadow. Adjust the timecodes and positions as needed. The key components for the shadow effect are:

  • \alpha&H80&: Sets the alpha (transparency) level to 80 (you can adjust this value).
  • \blurX1 and \blurY1: Apply a slight blur to the shadow for a smoother effect.
  • \pos(5,5): Sets the position offset for the main text.
  • \pos(8,8): Sets the position offset for the shadow text.

Adjust the values as necessary to achieve the desired semi-transparent shadow effect with positional offsets.

Is this the finalised version or does more work need to be done on it?

This ass subtitle may require more work in the future, such as adding additional blur to match the target effect (possibly using {\blur#}); also, the depth of the shadow is guessed based on one or two frames, and it needs to be compared with more files to see if it is applicable. There may still be slight differences in brightness and darkness.

Also, I am currently busy with other things in real life and have not yet started my vacation, so I will not be able to continue researching it for the time being.
