Add validation around BINDINGS and keymap values, i.e. what if I write a key combo that contains ctrl+bananas?

Some keyboards do have a 🍌 key. Pressing ctrl+🍌 results in 🍋‍🟩. Pressing shift+🍌 results in 🥥.

Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better.
