I don't know if this is possible on Windows, but it would be great if you could add a virtual speaker for every upnp device you found, so that we can simply select the device from the speaker icon. That way there is no way the sound is played on connected speakers and the upnp device.

I would also prefer this option. Each detected UPnP device should be listed as an audio output in Windows and the streaming should start if a device is selected.
This would be similar to how AirPlay works.
Maybe it would also be possible to sync AV delay this way?

Great idea. Proxy DLNA devices and made them behave as virtual devices.
Sounds reasonable.
