Objectives:
One of the objectives of this proposal is to conduct a comprehensive, multi-year study to investigate the dietary composition and nutritional patterns of polar bears in Norway. The other objective is to analyze the long-term trends in dietary health indicators among polar bears and reveal any potential correlations with the shifting environmental conditions.

Materials & Methods:

The blood samples collected from polar bears will be analyzed for nutritional health which includes the glucose levels, lipid profiles, and the concentration of the nutrients. By doing these analyses we will be able receive more information for evaluating the nutritional health and stress indicators for the polar bears that were tranquilized. The expedition team will also monitor variables of the environment which includes the sea ice extent, temperature of the surface of the sea, and the availability of prey by using satellite and remote sensing technologies. Collecting this data will be connected with the dietary changes that were observed in the polar bears. Through these findings the research team will do correlation analyses between dietary indicators and environmental variables to identify potential drivers of dietary changes. They will show their findings by creating graphs or tables or other means to show what they have found.
