To maintain an active and engaged user base on our platform, we need to clean up inactive accounts. We plan to identify users who have been inactive for a while, and deactivate accounts that remain inactive after a series of warning notifications. I am checking currently with DPO on any regulatory requirements, particularly GDPR, to ensure compliance.
What needs to be done?
Identify users who have been inactive for the last 12 to 18 months (checking whether there is any specific regulation about time).
Send couple of of warning notifications via email, informing these users that their accounts will be deactivated if they remain inactive. We can offer them a special button to click if they wanna remain active (they click - info goes to SF - TP/CON will be updated). Something similar to what we have for job postings.
Deactivate the accounts of those who do not return to the platform after the notifications. We can track this in SF in "CON/TP User Last active on", right?
Repeat this process on a yearly basis.
There could be also an optional step, like run an email campaign targeted at these inactive users, offering them something of value—a reminder of the platform's benefits, or an invitation to a special event—to encourage them to return.
