Something like these updates are needed to correctly deploy to the production cluster:

Take cluster offline
The currently pending requests must be handled, then disconnect the loadbalancer and display some message about temporary maintenance.
Backup the postgresql db (Create snapshot of the EBS volume)
Upgrade the deployment
- After deployment, recycle the action server pod. This is not done automatically. (Because the docker image tag is unchanged?)
Bring the cluster back on line
