Before opening this issue, I ensure that...

  • I have read the FAQ and confirmed my issue is not mentioned in it.
  • I have checked both open and closed issues and confirmed this bug has not already been reported.
  • I am not asking for tech support (e.g. game closing on startup, error when trying to build, etc).
  • I am not asking for modding support or reporting a bug in a specific mod; this bug either occurs without mods enabled or is directly related to the mod loader.
  • This bug is not related to any unofficial fork/port of the decompilation, and any issues with those should be kept in the appropriate repository.

Expected Behavior

The audio works

Actual Behavior

On start up it gives an error that says to install some DirectX stuff but when i did it , it stills gives the error

Steps to Reproduce

I don't acually know why it does this

Windows 8.1 doesn't have XAudio 2.9, only 2.8. And yes, that error message is completely misleading, Same with the official version form the Epic Games Store which also uses XAudio 2.9 and reports the same error with wrong instructions, the Steam version however, uses XAudio 2.7 which is included with the DirectX runtime, this is where the instructions from that error applies to.

@Mefiresu The root cause is the same as #278 but, since Windows 8.1 has XInput 1.4 it blows up elsewhere.
