ClimateNA is Windows-only, commits far more memory that it actually uses, and is quite slow to process rasters, preventing efficient parallelization when generating climate variable rasters (historic and future under multipyle GCMs/SSPs) for use with canClimateData module for fireSense/LandR.CS and others.

climr builds on the ClimateNA approach and looks like it supports cross-platform use!

ETA: Bonus points for climr having a public facing code repository to allow code contributions and enhancements
