Hi!

On Ubuntu 19.04

  1. I installed the inkscape-open-symbols.deb package, Inkscape do not see the files.
  2. I put the ~/.config/inkscape/symbols/ place the .svg files - nothing.
  3. I put on the ~/snap/inkscape/current/.config/inkscape/symbols place the files - nothing.

Any idea?

If that's the correct directory where the snap also saves the preferences file, then I think this is rather an Inkscape snap package issue and should be reported to https://inkscape.org/report .

Snap working mechanism is a little bit different. https://ubuntu.com/blog/a-guide-to-snap-permissions-and-interfaces
So, at the moment hasn't got access the symbol files.
I created an issue:

Hey keeping this issue open to keep track of this fix. Please report when fixed so I can close it

Linked issue is now closed as not fixable in Inkscape because deb and snap packaging can't be mixed.

wrt installing manually, I can confirm that it currently works in snap when pasting an svg to ~/.config/inkscape/symbols (Inkscape 1.1 (ce6663b3b7, 2021-05-25) snap, Linux Mint 20)
