Location list may be out of control

The location list (used for members and service providers) is growing rapidly and already has inconsistent granularity - some people have added relatively small towns while others are using a nation as their location.

I am not sure that this will be helpful to users who wish to search/filter members in a country.

Would it be worth allowing members and service providers to provide precise coordinates for their location(s) that could be used in map displays and also to provide a country level location that can be used in filter lists?

If we are going to make this change we should do it sooner rather than later
