Outside of home network

Hello everyone!
First of all let me tell you I love this node. It makes many things ,much easier :-), but I am having trouble accessing it outside of my network.
I am not sure what port do I have to forward to get things work.

I would say you need a HomeHub to access it when you are outside.

I set up OpenVPN to be on my home network just like when I'm home, but still, I don't know if is there a way to get this work like this. :-)

From what I know not :) You need Apple TV or something like that.

Are you trying to access nodered from web interface? Or are you trying to access your homekit accessories from the home app?

Since it doesn't work, probably the second one. Something about mdns not forwarding over vpn, I can find a reference. Best option is to have a home hub (apple tv, homepod, or ipad always at home).

It's about Bonjour - it doesn't go through the extra network hops on the VPN...

I have one question tho. After setting up an HomePod with a dedicated IP address, how do I set it on HomeKit to be the central controller for the nodeRED devices?

You create a house in Home.app and set it as your main home. You should also set up Apple TV to be for that home (HomeKit settings in Apple TV menus probably).
Then you add Bridges and Accessories from NRCHKB NodeRED to that same home.

Once it's in your house (everything on one subnet including pi and homepod) then Bonjour takes care of the rest so long as you've added everything to the Home app on iDevice.
