How can I use the led strip as the cyclotron

1st I'd like to say thank you so much for allowing your code to be public.
This is the first time I'm building a proton pack and working with Electronics.

I have been trying to follow your diagram but am running into some major issues.

The single Neo-Pixel LED's lights in my gun are not working as they should. Only the 1st light lights up instead of blinking a d then the vent light comes on most of the time. I first thought that this maybe a issues because the wiring is a little over 5 feet from the vent lights in the pack and then to the gun.

However I made another strand of LED's to test and they are not lighting as they should either.
So I hooked them up to D2 pin instead to see if it is even lighting up as the red lights from the cyclotron.

But the lights come on and then start blinking all randomly
I have this issue more so with the Arduino nano then the uno but still issues with that as well.

Any suggestions on what the issue could be, and how to fix it?
