zoomIt v8.01 (tried older versions too)
Unfortunately, it is not possible to use Livezoom in Clipchamp. The cursor is not visible and the zoom action is not recorded during a screen recording.

After the first LiveZoom action (zoom in ctrl+4), the cursor is no longer visible. Zoom in and zoom out are visible, but are not recorded. In PowerPoint (recording feature) everything works perfectly.

ZoomIt LiveZoom works perfectly if the entire screen is recorded instead of just one window. Handling with more than one screen is a little more difficult.

I interpret this behavior as a bug when recording the screen in clipchamp. The question is whether the error is with clipchamp or with zoomIt.

I think I managed to get a repro. So the steps are:

  1. Record (Ctrl+5)
  2. Activate Clipchamp with a timeline open / running.
  3. LiveZoom (Ctrl+4), LiveZoom again to return to desktop mode.
  4. Zoom (Ctrl+1) - the screen is frozen and cursor is hidden.
  5. Record again (to stop) - after which the screen / cursor recover

Does this look right?

Hello Alex

Thank you very much. Unfortunately, I'm not really familiar with the processes in Github. I have tried to reproduce your repro. Yes, it behaves like this.

How I discovered the "error".

  1. open Clipchamp and create a video -> screen recording -> window
  2. during screen recording in clipchamp Ctrl+4 (LiveZoom). The cursor becomes invisible.
  3. the zoom of ZoomIt is visible during the clipchamp recording.
  4. it is difficult to finish recording in clipchamp without cursor.
  5. the cursor is visible again after the recording is finished.
  6. the zoom of LiveZoom is not visible in the clipchamp recording.
  7. the zoom of LiveZoom and the cursor are visible in the ZoomIt recording.

If the "whole screen" is selected in clipchamp instead of "window", it works.

I can attach the two recordings (zoomIt & clipchamp) if that would help.

Thanks for your feedback.
Andreas

Hi Alex

I have now uploaded both videos.
240404_zoomit.webm:
-clipchamp-recording

Recording_Zoom_4.mp4:
-zoomit-recording
-clipchamp recording starts at 11 seconds

Actions 1-5 have been performed:

  1. record (Ctrl+5)
  2. activate Clipchamp with a timeline open / running.
  3. LiveZoom (Ctrl+4), LiveZoom again to return to desktop mode.
  4. zoom (Ctrl+1) - the screen is frozen and cursor is hidden.
  5. record again (to stop) - after which the screen / cursor recover

Thanks for your feedback.
Andreas

I can definitely get a repro, even without Clipchamp, just by having regular video accelerated stuff on a secondary screen.
Excellent find, thanks!

You're welcome, Alex. I'm glad to have made a contribution and of course hope to find a solution.
Best regards

Hello Alex

Ist there any solution?

What I have found out. It is not a ClipChamp specific problem.

All screen recordings (ClipChamp, Snipping Tool, PowerPoint etc.) do not record zoom activities and the mouse pointer disappears.

And as mentioned, if the whole screen is recorded, it works. But this is not a good alternative.

I read somewhere that the projection settings should be set to “PC screen only”. But that didn't work either.

Best regards
Andreas

Hello Alex

I have continued to test intensively. With the snipping tool, I managed to take 7 screen shots today in which LiveZoom was recorded by ZoomIT.

-The Windows screen magnifier is not recorded.
-The mouse pointer is recorded, but is no longer visible during the recording (for me) after the first zoom action. It remains invisible (for me) even after recording. Change the scheme in the mouse settings once, then the mouse is there again.

-Neither LiveZoom nor the screen magnifier is recorded in ClipChamp. The mouse pointer is recorded, but is no longer visible during recording (for me) after the first zoom action

Pretty strange.

Do you have any solutions?
Best regards
Andreas
