In GitLab by @DouweM on Feb 4, 2021, 16:19 @aaronsteers If https://gitlab.com/meltano/tap-gitlab/-/merge_requests/34 lands before this does, we'll have to wait to make the SDK-based version the new default until the SDK can also handle stream/field selection! |

In GitLab by @DouweM on Mar 29, 2021, 14:40 @aaronsteers I think this is still a nice one post-v0.1.0, to see if anything's missing that can go into v0.2.0. |
In GitLab by @tayloramurphy on Jun 1, 2021, 09:14 Given our limited resources, I don't know that we want to take this on ourselves. Implementing a custom tap-gitlab for MeltanoHub is a pretty good test case already. We should try to get the community or someone within GitLab to take this on themselves. |

As a proof of concept for the Singer SDK framework, and also to better position this tap for expanded capabilities, we want to port the existing tap to use singer-sdk library.
