Symfonisk Gen 2 dot press issues (E2123)

For reference, I see this related discussion: #17142 and this related PR: Koenkk/zigbee-herdsman-converters#5583

I've worked with these devices in the past, but shelved them until recently. I'm now having issues with dot presses that are similar to what's discussed in the referenced issue and is noted as fixed in the PR.

Zigbee2MQTT updated my device to 1.0.035. I had issues with dot presses so I followed the advice in the thread referenced - I deleted the device, fully rebooted HA (Zigbee2MQTT is running as an addon on the same Pi), and re-paired the device. Repairing was finicky but did complete.

No presses on the dot buttons get published. A single dot press on this controller, which I expect to get published as a "dots_1_initial_press" shows up in the Zigbee2MQTT log as:

A press on the double dot button seems to generate identical log events including commandAction1 and commandAction3.

The transport and volume buttons work as expected. This issue is specific to the dots buttons.

Could you provide a debug log when pressing all the buttons individually?

I tried to test this. I'm hitting an exception.

The log is below. I'm on HA. I installed the Edge version from the app store as follows:

• Saved the config from the release version's config as YAML
• Uninstalled release
• Installed Edge
• Replaced config as the Edge instructions say to do
• Added the external converter file and modified configuration.yaml to reference it

Everything seems to be working fine with the Edge version.

Here's the log from a single quick press and release of the single dot button. What I'm unsure of is whether or not the Edge version in the HA Add-on store would have picked up any changes made to Herdsman's dev branch. Is that possibly the issue?

Everything appears to be working correctly now.

No exceptions and all mappings I see in the log appear correct. I tested all combinations of single, double, long presses of single dot and double dot buttons with this blueprint:

Prior to your fix, none of them worked. With your fix, they all work.

Integrated the changes, you can remove the external converter after updating to the next release.

@Koenkk After the latest update my single press on both one dot and two dots stopped working. It worked before for several months. I tried to remove the device and restart home assistant and then add the button again but it still doesn’t recognize single press on the dot buttons. double press is recognized tho.

Hello,
i will try this fix and I have installed the current EDGE version, but the keys (singel dot an double dot) don´t work.
Do I need the external converter in the EDGE version? In the offical Z2M version, the double click works.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I tested with the Edge version and the external converter, as @Koenkk requested.

I also had to remove and delete the remote after the firmware update to get it to work. Once it's re-added you also have to set "Legacy" to "False" in the devices Settings (specific) pane.
