It retrieves the token from the cloud, if it stopped working internet has not been blocked properly.

In my case, in addition to blocking the two domains, it was also necessary to completely block Internet access for my Tapo cameras. Blocking only the two domains led to the cameras making a sound after a few hours and the cloud authentication was requested again. The other way round, the domains were queried despite the internet blocking - I can only speculate that the Tapo app is doing something here too - after I had completely blocked both the domains and the internet access for the cameras, they now work for a few days in HA without any problems. If there are still problems, I would delete the cameras from the app after a reset and new setup.

I'm in the market to buy a new camera, given the fact that it has baby crying detection.
I see an Amazon promo for 23 EUR for this camera.
Is this camera now working in Home Assistant or not? Would you recommend me buying it?
Any other valid alternatives with baby sound detection and good HA integration?

@bigrup Rupert, sorry to annoy you so much but would you mind sharing a screenshot from HA on the device page showing which options are available when you add this camera given the fact that so little is known about it on the internet.

I'm starting to understand that it is possible to add the device to HA without any firmware changes as long as it's blocked from the internet to keep the authentication issues away right?

Yes, works OOTB with HACS, not sure about downgrading, I'm running 1.3.11, which was the version it auto updated to before I blocked it. Not sure how I would go about downgrading, but with the current HACS version (201) and current tapo camera version (5.7.2), 1.3.11 does work when blocked.
