That lovely "B" you see in your browser tab is just begging to be replaced. Three options:

  1. remove and go without.
  2. replace with the Brigade program icon. See: http://brigade.codeforamerica.org/
  3. develop a custom one.

My preference would be for (1) in a pinch and (2) if someone is motivated. (2) is the approach we're taking on the redesign of www.codefordc.org, so it would be all nice and matchy.

do we still need a favicon? I took Matth's (2) suggestion and quickly created one from brigade.codeforamerica's logo. I hope it's OK. the .ico file is here https://www.dropbox.com/s/08qo9zg6qhw61ra/favicon.ico (can't attach in comment here)

the regular PNG version is here:

Oh, very cool. Feel free to make a pull request, or I'll get to it pretty
soon! Or maybe we should use the official one?

Cheri's is better! Tell the official one to use hers!

Agree! It needs to be sized differently though, I think. I'm not an
expert, but I believe it needs to be either 16x16 or 32x32, and I think the
former is more compatible. Poking around a bit now to figure this out. A
post to the main list might sort this though.

FWIW this pretty exhaustive article says that a bunch of sizes matter, but
if you're going to provide just one, 16x16 is most essential:

Ah, that's true. I should've resized it to 16. Here's a zip with 16, 32 and 48
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6gegn3b7t5gf2h0/favicon.zip

and a regular PNG for view:

hmm now I'm not sure vs. standard brigade .ico; maybe with transparency
around the corners? take a look with two tabs side-by-side...
