"Reddit could not be reached" error

Android version: 4.2.2
Processor architecture: ARMv7

When I try to open the app for the first time after installing it from Google Play, I get an error saying that Reddit could not be reached, so no content is loaded. When I say yes to the question if I want to try again, the warning keeps coming back.
