These are common web symbols used in many web apps. What would you propose instead? Have you tried clicking on the HELP button? |
Furthermore, if you hover your mouse over the icons, they provide descriptive text, such as "bold" or "italics" pursuant to 508 standards. |
That’s good - I do see it now. I am just reporting what some users who are not technical are experiencing when using this site. If this tool is to be used across an agency by a variety of personnel, it needs to be intuitive. I would keep it as is, but I also did not know you could hover over the icons and in other places in the tool there is no hovering. In places where a symbol or icon describes the behavior, there is tool tip help (pursuant to 508). If the button includes text that states its purpose, tooltip help is redundant and not required. |
many instead of strike-out there should be an underline feature? |
Underline is confusing with links and not recommended. |
(Agree: No underline.) The confusion among users is probably related to #25 which pertains to the use of markdown language |
It is not clear to users why one would need a strike-out feature in the project description. Why would one cross out something in a description when one only has 400 characters to work with?
Also, the symbols used are not intuitive to non-technical folks for the code, hyperlink, and strike out function. These may be common symbols for IT, so leave in if you feel important. Just reporting the experience of non-technical users.
