Your Expectation

With the Nanosuit Boots of the Traveller equipped, and omni mode disabled, I expected to be able to move at the same speed as in 2.6.1.

The Reality

After updating to 2.7.0 I noticed that sideways and backwards movement with omni mode disabled is slower than it was in 2.6.1.
It also feels like the issue is present when flying sideways/backwards with the Advanced NanoChestPlate.

Your Proposal

It would be nice if the movement speed behavior of 2.6.1 in this regard would be restored.

Final Checklist

  • I have searched this issue tracker and there is nothing similar already. Posting on a closed issue saying the bug still exists will prompt us to investigate and reopen it once we confirm your report.
  • I can reproduce this problem consistently by follow the exact steps I described above, or this does not need reproducing, e.g. recipe loophole.
  • I have asked other people and they confirm they also have this problem by follow the exact steps I described above, or this does not need reproducing, e.g. recipe loophole.

Is this not what omni-directional movement mode is for? This seems like intended behavior. Omni-directional movement mode fixes the issue.

Omni-directional movement does not "fix" the issue. It's a different type of movement which provides a different experience when moving forwards+sideways than regular movement does. I quite liked the balance that non-omni mode had in the previous update, and omni mode was a little too fast sideways for me. If I were designing this mod I would probably provide individual modifiers on a per-axis basis to allow for customisation of ideal movement values, but that's besides the point.

This issue is simply here to identify a difference in experience between 2.6.1 and 2.7.0. If the change is intended, then I guess that's okay even though I prefer the old behaviour. I couldn't find anything in the changelog so I can only assume that it's an unintended change, possibly introduced by the somewhat significant API changes that I saw when perusing the boots code changes.
