The origin of this problem, at least in some cases, is due to:
imProc.cat.filterForAstrometry

that filters out sources incorrectly.
In the future need to investigate and and implement a new filtering algorithm.

Fixed by the following patch.
If astrometry failed, on second trial try it without filtering.
