Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to tell ESMValTool to look in other directories (i.e. not the default directory it uses as-installed) for additional data fixers and custom preprocessors without editing the esmvaltool code? Thanks |

This is not possible. You can install the ESMValCore from source and make your modifications there. It is highly appreciated if you contribute data fixes back to the community because if everyone keeps their fixes to themselves everybody will have to write the same fix. |

Update: we discussed this feature with the @ESMValGroup/technical-lead-development-team some time ago (see ESMValGroup/Community#62 (comment)) and there is agreement in that team that it would be nice to have. It still needs to be discussed with the other members of the @ESMValGroup/esmvaltool-coreteam and if they like it, we would need someone to implement it, so it may take a while before it's available. |
