<p>3. <seg xml:lang="la" rend="diplo">imperatori <hi rend="supraline">ii</hi></seg>:
<seg xml:lang="la" rend="diplo">consuli <hi rend="supraline">iiii</hi></seg>
has been omitted on the analogy of <ref type="inscription">RIB 1278</ref>
(<placeName key="db01310">High Rochester</placeName>). It would also be
possible to follow the analogy of <ref type="inscription">RIB 1705</ref>
(<placeName key="db01702">Vindolanda</placeName>) and read <seg
xml:lang="la" rend="diplo">cos <hi rend="supraline">iiii</hi> imp <hi
rend="supraline">ii</hi></seg>, but this would make it necessary to
abbreviate both titles, which is not the practice elsewhere on this stone <rs
key="db00747">R. P. W.</rs></p>
<p>5. The names of the <term>governor</term>, <persName key="db02833" xml:lang="la"
type="roman">C. Iulio Marco</persName>, have been deleted.</p>
<p>6. <seg xml:lang="la" rend="diplo">posuerunt</seg>
<quote>seems to be spaced as if it were in fact the last (word), though it might
be followed by some such phrase as <seg xml:lang="la" rend="diplo">d n m q
eorum</seg></quote>

in dotted letters <rs key="db00747">R. P. W.</rs></p>
<p>Of the three fragments which <rs key="db00346">Huebner</rs> quotes as unplaced,
(i) is extant (<ref type="inscription">RIB 1232</ref>), and does not belong to
this inscription; (h) fits in l. 5; (k) fits in l. 1.</p>
