latest firmware update causes sporadic led flashing #14
Comments
This can happen when the keyboard is dimmed and on the red channel only, it should be fixed at 0.3.0 Dygmalab/Bazecor#180 ! |
✨ This is an old work account. Please reference @brandonchinn178 for all future communication ✨ @AlexDygma how does that linked issue relate to this one? I'm also not sure what you mean. As far as I know, I haven't set anything related to dimming the keyboard. What do you mean by "red channel"? |
✨ This is an old work account. Please reference @brandonchinn178 for all future communication ✨ I've also installed 0.3.0, and it's still happening |
Hey @brandon-leapyear ! My bad, i clearly mistook your problem for another one, this seems pretty weird, maybe it has to do with the sleep library? can you confirm me if this happened with version 0.2.6 and earlier? or only on 0.2.7 and later |
✨ This is an old work account. Please reference @brandonchinn178 for all future communication ✨ I believe I upgraded straight from 0.2.0, so it could be any of the versions between. I could try upgrading incrementally and seeing where it starts to occur? |
✨ This is an old work account. Please reference @brandonchinn178 for all future communication ✨ hm so I've been downgrading and upgrading, and now that I'm back on 0.2.7, it's no longer flashing sporadically. Not sure what the issue is. Side note: are there plans to make upgrading the firmware possible via USB-C? I have a new Macbook with only USB-C ports, so for normal usage, I have a USB-C to USB-C cable between the neuron and the laptop. But I can't seem to upgrade the firmware; I have to break out the cable that came with the Dygma and get an adapter to do so. |
Hey @brandon-leapyear ! Great! then you found the culprit! if the 0.2.7 is no longer having the issue, probably the problem for you was with the latest firmware. but it's strange because the most plausible root cause is precisely the hibernation changes introduced on 0.2.7 😆 We will have to look on the USB-C issue, but i haven't been able to test that as of yet. Probably will for the next Firmware release. |
✨ This is an old work account. Please reference @brandonchinn178 for all future communication ✨ @AlexDygma actually, I spoke too soon. I saw it happening again in 0.2.7, 0.3.0, and 0.3.1. I uploaded 0.2.6, and it seems to be fine, so I think it started happening with 0.2.7 I am using the cable that came with the Dygma now, so my Dygma is connected via USB-A to an adapter, which connects to my computer via USB-C |
@AlexDygma This is still happening on the 0.3.3 firmware. Can this issue be opened again? |
Hey @brandonchinn178 ! Ofc! We used some keyboardio code to solve the sleeping issue in 0.2.7, as far as i know they have improved it so as soon as i can i will be updating the base code and improving the way it works. This will take a bit of time due to the beta we are doing right now in Reddit with the new features, as soon as those are stable enough, we will resume bug smashing 😄 |
I am also experiencing a flash of LEDs when my computer is sleeping. Seems to happen every 5-10 minutes or so. Some relevant details below on current setup, but was also experiencing this when connected to an older MacBook with 0.3.x firmware.

Just chiming in to say this issue still occurs with firmware 1.0.11 beta. Has happened since I got my Raise in late 2021. Worked identically with 2 different Macs for me now. A quick, bright flash every x minutes while sleeping. I’ve been wondering if the macOS Power Nap feature could be the thing triggering it. Macbook Pro 16” (2019, Intel) |
If this happens when on sleep only, it's due to the check mail/etc.. option in MacOS, the computer as a whole is powering up, checking things on ethernet and then sleeping again, that's what you see. |
That link is quite outdated, but that’s basically what the Power Nap feature handles today, yeah! Performs small tasks, but doesn’t turn on the display etc. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh40773/mac Again, this is just a complete outsider guess, but feels like it could be related to this issue. Edit: it looks like the “Power Nap” name is being phased out with Apple Silicon, and its functionality is just part of all modern Macs now. Unclear if it can be even turned off anymore. |
After upgrading to the latest firmware upgrade, my keyboard is now randomly flashing its lights when turned off. It's really quick, so I can't tell if it's one color or my usual color configuration
