From today's call: Whatever the internal representation, DINA needs to offer a way to extract data that conforms to external data models and formats, especially Darwin Core Archives used for GBIF. The first class citizens in the internal DINA-representation are likely different from those currently used in Darwin Core, so a mapping / transformation needs to be defined that correctly transforms the data to the target format, mediating the different semantics of the components in the source and target formats.
