Hi,

I'm trying to get this keyboard manufactured through PCBway, and all is going well except they aren't sure how to put on part U1 and I'm not sure either. What orientation does it go in?

Thanks

Hi there,

The best way to get the placement for U1 might be to request what placement file PCBWay needs, and from there, generate the CPL/placement file in KiCad. There should already be some placement files in the folder that are compatible with other manufacturers that provide the placement positions and angles at which the components should be placed.

I would refer to those files as the source of truth

Thanks

Thank you for your response. However, is there a specific value for the orientation that you could provide? I'm new to custom PCBs and don't know how to use KiCad.

Thanks

Is this for the bancouver40? Sending them this placement file might help clear things up. https://github.com/ChrisChrisLoLo/bancouver40/blob/main/pcb/bancouver40_cfx/gerbers/bancouver40_cfx-bottom-pos.csv

The placement file states an angle of -135 degrees for U1, though I think sending them the file would be best

Hi,

I sent them that file and they said that they were confused about "the 135degree that you said". They sent this image to clarify. Is it right?

Yes, working with individual values is not commonplace.

I fished up an old prototype board to look at the dot. This looks correct, though the placement file is what they should work off of as the source of truth
