Guys,

Quick update after our call:

  1. elastic band - Scott already connect with elastic supplier and they are looking for 10K feet in the Charlotte area. They said it is getting harder to move product around right now.

waiting for update on availability and price
2. Filament - we are reaching out to https://www.fiberich-usa.com/ the company in Mooresville that jeremy recommended. Please post on this thread any other.

for 10K mask we need 800lbs of filament. For now we are trying to get 200lbs PLA and 200lbs PETG. that should get us a lot of the way there if we include people own inventory.

Once we have a final decision on PLA vs. PETG we can go ahead and try to purchase the rest of the amount.

  1. Shipping / billing address - for right now we are planning to ask delivery if available to Charlotte Latin School - Fab Lab. We are also asking them to send bills to the same address.

9502 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277

Let us know if this is incorrect

Please list any link or other sources / contact that we can work with as suppliers

Thanks,
Dan

Re: elastic, I found 1000 yards of 1-inch elastic that can be overnighted from Mauldin, SC but it was NOT Button Elastic. So, Tom told me not to pursue.

Re: clear plastic material, I know that PETGClear is being delivered by Piedmont Plastics. The Infection Prevention (IP) Dept @ Atrium Health needs more info about that clear plastic material to see if it is OK by CDC standards. Can you send me info ASAP?

Thx

ok, will chase down with piedmont plastics. I do not know much about plastics. Do we know what specs to ask for?

Also, have secured about 200lbs of PETG and 200lbs of PLA in moorsville - need transportation - they will hold it for us until Thursday.

Thank You!

I found this on Piedmont Plastics website. Is this what we purchased?
https://www.piedmontplastics.com/products/petg

If so, it seems like PP could confirm:

  • Thickness / Gauge
  • Which "industry leading suppliers including Plaskolite, Inc., Primex Plastics, and PolyOne™" provided the order we just received?

@thomasd538 Did we get any sort of invoice / bill? That might help also.

Guys, a quick update.
I was able to place a hold on product today, here is where we are;
Company; Jinos 3D
Contact RG
Phone Number'; 704=907-9649
Address; 142 Lugnut Lane, Mooresville, NC 28117

  • 1,75 mm PLA, 200lbs @ $12 per roll (2,2 lbs each)
  • 1.75 mm PETG 200lbs @ $14.49 per roll
The order will need to be picked up and paid for by close of business Thursday. That is as long as they will hold it. They will be producing the last 150 lbs of the PETG this week, the rest they have in stock.

On the buttonhole elastic, I spoke to Gifford DelGrande of AEC Narrow Fabrics today, he is working on our requirement and I am awaiting a return call. If I don't hear back by mid morning I will follow up with him.

Thanks,
Scott

I was introduced to people in Bulk Sales @ Joann and asked about the cost of 1-inch Buttonhole Elastic.

They have 0.75-inch online:
https://www.joann.com/button-hole-elastic-3-4in-wide-30-yards/2173649.html

But confirming if they have 1-inch as well, since that is what Tom requested.

Will let you know what I hear!

You looking to buy approximately 90 rolls of PETG and 90 rolls of PLA? I'm running 15 printers, 50g per part, each part takes 3 hours, so I use about 8-12 pounds a day, depending how many times I get up at night to start new prints. Maybe try to buy half that if possible? I have enough PETG for the week and a month's worth of PLA I'm happy to use up for this project, I got it cheap and rarely print with it.

Thanks Jeremy, we put in the order and now need to arrange for pick today or latest tomorrow.

Will check if we can change quantity, worst case the fab lab students will have enough filaments for their projects next year :)

If yes, I think it may be good to purchase

@sgardner9015 did we get an answer from the button elastic provider?

Budmen designs has set up a channel for pre-cut plastic.

We have received many requests for where to buy the clear plastic material, we have been coordinating with PaperGala to make pre-cut and hole punched sheets available. They are now ready for order.
· To help as many healthcare workers as possible: Please do not over buy. We do not want inventory tied up, Paper Gala will be continuously producing so please order only what you can use immediately.
· Please contact the healthcare providers you are working with to ensure that PET-G meets their needs.
Purchase pre-cut 10-packs of PETG poly sheets here:
https://papergala.com/

Does this help us get to assembly faster?

@thomasd538 I have a volunteer w. an SUV who can go pick up the Filament in Mooresville. How do you want to pay for it? Invoice CLS or I can give them my business card and get reimbursed later.

In case it's helpful, one of our local partners used this ingenious trick for the elastic:
