Provisioning/setup

  • juju - I prefer this to vagrant as it supports local VMs, EC2 an tonnes of other providers, but uses a common config format for them
  • vagrant - using this already, pretty good but not suited to "production", by the looks of it

Web stuff

  • zend - Popular PHP framework. Widely used
  • Node - Javascript platform. Used by:
    • Meteor - real time, full JS Stack web applications
    • Express - widely used, lightweight web framework. Used by Candlefire, works pretty well.

I think having a session at OggCamp might be a good idea - although, to be fair @BinaryKitten won't be there, so we can't discuss it fully.

I'd like to investigate getting at least part of the stack built up to understand both technologies, and then taking a lead from there.

I won't be able to make oggcamp this year either :O

Been looking into http://bookshelfjs.org/ (repo here).

Gives the awesomeness of an ORM atop a relational DB with the power of node. I'll have a look and report.

Thanks. We should probably chat in the new year. I won't be at OggCamp
next, so Mark will be running the show... Whatever we end up doing, he'll
need to be OK with too.

I won't be able to get to oggcamp either, but I'm thinking of starting the production of the new CFM in node - anyone feel like putting a spec together for me?

@JonTheNiceGuy mind if I move the user stories into the CampFireManager organisation?

Seems sensible and logical :)

It won't let me because I don't have admin rights - Can you add me or fork it? :)

I was thinking of doing the rewrite in sails.
