Reinstall DeFi Wallet

In the event a user faces the following event(s), may try to reinstall:

• user on a much older version and the app is having trouble updating
• unable to access the app completely

1. Backup wallet

— most important step!

2. If you did not specify where to store your wallet.dat, proceed to backup the entire wallets folder

In the wallets folder you'll likely see wallet-bak-123456789 as well, these are additional backups.

For Mac, it's located here:
 Go To Folder

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Defi/wallets/

For Windows — C:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\DeFi Blockchain\wallets\

3. After you've safely made a copy of the wallets folder (if you did not specify where you saved your wallet.dat), proceed to delete the following folders:

For Mac — Go to Folder:

App Installation

/Users/<username>/Applications/DeFi Wallet.app


Blockchain folder

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Defi/


DeFi Wallet folder

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/defi-wallet

For Windows — C:

App Installation
C:\Users\username\Program Files\DeFi Wallet

DeFi

Blockchain folder
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\DeFi Blockchain\


DeFi Wallet folder

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\defi-wallet

4. Download the latest version from DeFiChain

5. After installing the latest version, wait for app to sync to 100%. You may use Snapshot to speed up the synchronisation process. Click on i to trigger Snapshot download.

6. Once app reaches 100%, Restore wallet from backup (ie. wallet.dat)

Use the wallet.dat that you've previously backed up (step 1)

7. A window should pop up, select your wallet.dat location

(alternative step) 8. If you've saved your wallet.dat in another folder, navigate to where you stored your wallet.dat

Leave the app to load for awhile, your wallet balance should reflect as per the wallet.dat you selected, if it's incorrect, select another wallet.dat from the wallets folder (step 6) and try again.
