The function of the firmware .bin with the swser version

I see that there are two types of firmware.bin files under the "release" folder: one with the "swser" version and another without it. Could you please explain the differences between these two versions?

Short answer: Both versions should work fine, the default is using hw serial, the "swser" is using sw serial. You have to follow this doc depending on the version you choose. link

Long answer:
Binaries ending with "swser" are using Software serial to communicate with the solar tracer.
Hardware serial is the default, but, esp8266 has only 1 hw serial port so it must be shared between ESP logging messages and Solar tracer communication ( it can cause some interference, sometimes).
Software serial is a software emulated port, it works quite well, but it's not as good as hw serial (especially for high demanding application, which is not the case), it's quite optimized version so you shouldn't notice any difference.
ESP32 has multiple hw serial ports, so, sw serial is not needed.

My suggestion is: if you're using the standard one with no issue, just stick with it. Otherwise give to "swser" a try.

You're welcome! 😊 Yes, I was able to resolve the issue following your guidance. However, I noticed that all parameters in Home Assistant are shown as "Unknown," even though I'm sure the ESP8266 is powered on.

The version I am using is: SolarTracerBlynk_3.0.8_esp8266_mqttHA.bin.

I followed the instructions in your Markdown document to connect the hardware, but when I tried to connect to Epever, it still shows as "Unknown," and I noticed that the red LED on the MAX485 module remains constantly lit.

Note: I used pins 4, 6, and 8 (B, A, GND) for the Ethernet cable.

The schematic you're using requires "swser" firmware. Flash the correct version and try again firmware

Internal status is 19, that means esp cannot communicate with the solar tracker.

The red light on MAX485 will stay ON all the time.

You should try

• ESP D2 -> RX
• ESP D4 -> TX
• ESP 3.3v -> VCC
• ESP GND -> GND

Other connections should be the same as MAX485.
