ESP as bridge mode

As i know the latest version is already support mqtt. Then is it possible also support have bridge/gateway functionalities ?

The esp will passthrough data modbus to send over wifi directly. So better solution that no need mqtt broker anymore.

Hi, at the moment the support is limited to:

• Blynk (v1,v2)
• Mqtt
• home assistant (mqtt integration)

It should be interesting to implement your idea but I have some points of discussion:

1. the bridge should behave as a modbus slave on the wifi , or it should send message via rest/text (... anything except modbus) ?
2. IF (1) MODBUS SLAVE OVER WIFI: did you find any arduno library to implement a tcp-ip slave with an esp8266/esp32?
3. IF (1) MODBUS SLAVE OVER WIFI: if the esp should just be a bridge (waits for request from wifi - sends them over rs485 - returns the response back on wifi), it defeats a little the purpose of the project because no sync. loop is required and lots of the features should be disabled. 😫 (maybe https://github.com/ClassicDIY/ModbusAdapter or https://github.com/MaxKravt/WiFi-Modbus-TCPtoRTU will fit better)
4. IF (1) MODBUS SLAVE OVER WIFI: if the esp should put an additional layer of abstraction hiding the real scc, so, esp is a standalone tcp-ip slave, it has its address mapping and variable definition, and it syncs periodically (as usual) its data with the scc, it duable but not so easy 🤔, but it a matter of adding a new syn implementation (as already done with mqtt and mqttHA)
5. IF (1) ANY PROTOCOL OVER WIFI: do you have any suggestion (rest/text/ custom protocol ...)?
6. IF (1) ANY PROTOCOL OVER WIFI: should be duable, my concerns are on the write request (but it depends on the comm. protocol we choose).

As i know the esp should be a master and scc as a slave. then the master as bridge mode should behave as modbus tcp server as well.

it's need build tcp connection to send modbus request. the request device should behave as tcp client.

Is it below references can use as suggestion?
