Creating Media in Arctos that links to Sketchfab 3D models
These steps are to be performed after your model has been successfully uploaded to Sketchfab. You need access to the your Sketchfab account and your Arctos collection.
Linking Sketchfab to Arctos
Log in to your Sketchfab Account -> click the model -> click Edit Properties
In the Remarks field include the following information:
Genus/species:
What is the structure (skull, crania, lower mandible)
Arctos link: copy the link of your object information page and paste here
Creating a thumbnail for your Arctos Media
Thumbnails need to be tiny in size. No more then 50 KB. You need access to a program that will let you change the size of a photo file (.jpg, .tiff, .png). For the UWYMV collection Mac, use Preview
In Sketchfab open the model you are interested in
Click the Fullscreen button in the lower left corner of the model image
Create a screenshot of your model
Escape out of the full screen
Find your screenshot and rename it: common name_structure
Create a copy of the screenshot and put it in the Thumbnail Image folder on the desktop
Open the copy in Preview
In the Menu -> Tools -> Adjust Size
Select Percent for size adjustment and enter 10 in width and height
Double check that your file is now 50 KB or smaller (if it is still too large you will need to delete the file and create another copy to adjust)
Repeat the process so you have a thumbnail for each of the models for your object (skull, crania, lower mandible)
Linking Arctos to Sketchfab
Things to make sure you have before you start: thumbnail, Sketchfab model, Arctos Project that the model goes with, the name of the creator of the model
Log into Arctos and open your Arctos object information page for the object from which you created the models
Go to your Sketchfab model and copy the link at the top of the page for the model
On the Arctos Object Information page, click the Media Tab
