Include routines to:

permanently bury organic matter and CaCO3 in the sediments
perform sedimentary denitrification that removes some NO3 that would otherwise be added by remineralisation of sediment detritus
proxy nitrogen fixation at the surface as a balance to NO3 loss via sedimentary denitrification
